Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 5, 2026
The short version: we collect only what we need to run your chat assistant, we don't sell anyone's information, and our widget doesn't track visitors with cookies.
Who we are
Bytler provides an AI chat assistant that local businesses add to their websites. Bytler is operated by Michael Kmbikyan in Glendale, California. Questions about this policy can go to hello@mybytler.com.
Who this covers
- Business customers who sign up for Bytler.
- Website visitors who chat with a Bytler assistant on a customer's website.
What we collect
From business customers:
- Contact details you give us (name, email, phone) and your business details (name, address, hours, services, booking link).
- The public content of your website, which we read to train your assistant, plus anything you add on the review form.
- Billing is handled by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
From website visitors:
- The messages a visitor types into the chat, the assistant's replies, and the time of each exchange. We don't ask visitors for their name or contact details; we only receive what they choose to type.
- Our widget does not set cookies or use your browser's storage. Our hosting providers keep standard server logs (such as IP address and browser type) for security and reliability.
How we use it
- To run the assistant and answer visitors' questions on the business's behalf.
- To send business customers a monthly report of the conversations on their site.
- To set up, bill, support, secure, and improve the service.
- To comply with the law.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
AI processing
To write replies, we send a visitor's message, the conversation so far, and the business's information to Anthropic, the company behind the Claude AI model. Under Anthropic's commercial terms, we understand that data sent through its API is not used to train its models. AI can make mistakes, so we tell assistants to say so and point visitors to the business when they are unsure.
Who we share it with
Only with the service providers we use to operate Bytler, and only to provide the service:
- Anthropic (AI replies)
- Supabase (database)
- Railway and Vercel (hosting)
- Cloudflare (DNS and security)
- Resend (email)
- Firecrawl (reading your website)
- Stripe (payments)
Conversations are also shared with the business whose website the visitor was using. We may disclose information if the law requires it.
The business's role
For chats on a customer's website, that business decides how the conversations are used, and we process them on its behalf. Businesses are responsible for telling their visitors that the site uses an AI assistant that saves conversations, ideally in their own privacy policy.
Please don't share sensitive details
Bytler is not designed to handle medical, financial, or other sensitive information. Visitors should not enter health details, payment card numbers, passwords, or government ID numbers into the chat.
Website access (installation help)
If you ask us to install the widget for you, we ask which platform your website uses, and our forms never ask for a password. To install it, we'll usually ask you to add us as a collaborator on your site, or we'll do it with you on a call. If you choose to share a login with us another way, we use it only to install the widget, delete it once we're finished, and recommend you use a temporary or limited login and change any password you share afterward.
How long we keep it
We keep a business's information and chat logs while its account is active. We delete them within 30 days after a business cancels or asks us to, except for billing records we must keep by law.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and access is limited to what we need to run the service. No system is perfectly secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to tell you what we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. Email hello@mybytler.com. California residents have these rights under California law, and we won't treat you differently for using them. If you are a visitor, your request may need to go to the business whose site you used, and we will help pass it along.
Children
Bytler is for businesses and isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date above and, for business customers, tell you by email when the change is significant.
